Hours:  8:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m Monday–Friday*
*Hours/Days will vary depending upon the needs of the department.

What do we want you to bring to the table?

We are looking for a strong leader that delegates well and is extremely adaptable. Must be highly organized and have the ability to keep up with multiple projects simultaneously and ensure tasks are completed on time. Must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business software applications. You must have strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. We’d like for you to have  demonstrated history of supervision, motivating and coaching staff. We’re looking for someone that has a history of flexibility, analytical and problem-solving skills and business acumen. Prior experience with accounting, finance or budget analysis is preferred. We’d like for you to have experience with RFPs, RFBs, competitive bid processes and budget analysis. We’re looking for a team player with a great attitude.

What do you need to have?

A Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business administration or another degree related to the role and a minimum of 1 year supervision or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

What you will be doing?

In a typical day you will be assisting the Manager of the Business Services Department to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. You will review industry best practices, changes to election laws, and assist the Manager in implementing these changes. You will research new technology in order to determine beneficial changes for modernizing current practices. You will assist in managing agency purchases in accordance with applicable Cuyahoga County procurement procedures and ORC including development of  RFPs, bid specifications and solicitation of competitive price quotes for commodities and services needed by the CCBOE. You will supervise departmental functions regarding the accurate preparation, verification and coding of vouchers. You will assist with compiling and maintaining information for departmental reporting such as itemized breakdowns of historic costs for budgetary analysis and comparison.  You will communicate necessary information with other departments, and notify departments when changes occur that could affect CCBOE processes.  You will create, distribute, and present election reports. You will also be responsible for analyzing data, creating and delivering reports to the Director and Deputy Director, Board Members and the public. You will work cooperatively with the other Business Services Assistant Manager, and will cover departmental needs in the absence of the other Assistant Manager. You will assist with the creation and maintenance of a task calendar with all of the activities performed by the department. You will support election administration by participating in regular meetings with other managers and administrators to ensure all election processes, deadlines and other related efforts are on schedule.  You will assist with the supervision, coaching, and mentoring of department staff. You will review staffs’ work, encourage training, and make sure individual benchmarks are met. You will schedule staff vacations, approve sick leave, conduct employee performance evaluations and recommend discipline when needed. You will be responsible for monitoring staffing levels, preparing timesheets, and promoting employee morale. You will perform all other duties assigned, delegated or required of the Business Services Assistant Manager, including those prescribed by law.
